I had a fantastic stay at the Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai. The room was spacious and offered an amazing view of the Bund, which made each morning special. While the service was generally excellent, I did encounter some delays during breakfast hours. Overall, I'd highly recommend this hotel for both business and leisure travelers.

My stay at the Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai was a mixed bag. While I enjoyed the beautiful views and the fantastic breakfast options, I encountered several issues that detracted from the experience, including inconsistent service and some outdated facilities. Overall, the location and amenities offered a luxurious feel, but there were notable areas for improvement.

Rooms

I found my room to be spacious and clean, with stunning views of the city and the Bund from every window. However, some of the fittings felt a bit dated and could use a refresh.
Service
6.0
The service was somewhat hit-or-miss during my stay. While some staff members showed genuine hospitality, there were moments when the response was slow or inattentive, particularly in the bar area.
Location

The hotel's location in Pudong was excellent, providing easy access to the metro and stunning views of the Huangpu river. It's perfect for exploring the bustling areas nearby.

My stay at the Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai had its highlights. The location and views were stunning, but I encountered some cleanliness issues that left me disappointed. The service varied from excellent to somewhat unprofessional, and the dining experience had its ups and downs.

Rooms
6.0
The room was spacious and offered a lovely view of the Bund, though the carpet was unfortunately stained and not as clean as I'd expect from a five-star hotel. It had all the usual amenities like high-quality toiletries and a comfortable bed.
Service
7.0
While some staff were friendly and accommodating, especially in the executive lounge, others seemed inexperienced and unaware of the services available. I was particularly grateful for Ellen's assistance in the restaurant.
Location
9.0
The hotel's location was superb, with easy access to local attractions like the Pearl Tower and a pleasant walk to the subway. The views from both my room and the executive lounge were amazing.
Dining

Dining options were inconsistent. The Elements restaurant offered a decent breakfast but lacked variety, while the quality of the Italian restaurant was disappointing. There were moments of good service, but the overall experience was crowded and chaotic.
Facilities

Facilities like the gym and pool were excellent and provided a relaxing atmosphere, though the lounge would benefit from better staffing during peak hours.

My stay at the Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai was a blend of impressive architecture and spacious, comfortable rooms, though I did face a few issues during my time there. The location is fantastic with stunning views of the Bund, and the service was generally professional. However, the dining experience left something to be desired, with breakfasts that seemed overpriced and chaotic. Overall, it was a good experience but with room for improvement.

Rooms
8.0
The room was large and beautifully maintained, complete with a luxurious bathroom featuring a multi-nozzle shower and large tub. I enjoyed the stunning view of the Bund, which added to my experience. However, I expected a better view than the close office building I got in a so-called 'city view room'.
Service
7.0
Most of the staff were very professional and attentive. I particularly appreciated the assistance from the lounge staff, who helped me find a nice table with a good view. Yet, there were moments when the service felt rushed, like when the bill was presented somewhat abruptly.
Location
9.0
The hotel's location is excellent, with easy access to public transport and major attractions like the Oriental Pearl Tower just a short walk away. It truly serves as a quiet base for exploring the vibrant parts of Shanghai.
Dining
6.0
Breakfast featured a wide selection, but it felt inappropriate for the price I paid. The dining experiences I had, particularly in the Italian restaurant, were disappointing. The food was underwhelming and did not match the upscale atmosphere of the hotel.
Facilities
8.0
The hotel's facilities, including the spa and pool, were impressive and provided a relaxing escape. I loved the view from the pool area, but I felt the dining facilities could use better organization.
